Isola di Vrgada, arcipelago Biograd, Pakoštane

The island of Vrgada is a small island located in the southeastern part of the Zadar archipelago. This oasis of pristine nature, fresh air and clear sea is ideal for a relaxing holiday away from the crowds of big cities and the hustle and bustle of the tourist centers on the Adriatic coast. The island’s main settlement is also called Vrgada, where you can find comfortable accommodation in holiday homes and apartments. The island is connected to Biograd na Moru by boat lines. Among the interesting sights on the island are the Church of St. Andrew from 9th century, the remains of a Byzantine fortress from the time of Emperor Justinian (6th century), the ruins of the Damiani Castle from the 17th century and the parish Church of the Holy Trinity from the 16th century. Apart from the historical attractions, you will certainly wish to visit the island’s most beautiful beach. It is a sandy beach called Podbrizi, or Golden or Red Beach as the locals call it, and considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic.
If you decide to spend your vacation on this magical island, you will rediscover the nature you forgot in your busy everyday life: long walks, the fragrances of Dalmatian plants, the sounds of the sea lapping against the rocks, the summer song of crickets and the sound of the mistral in your hair. On Vrgada you will experience a return to nature in its original form.
