Isola di Murter, Zadar arcipelago

Only 6 meters away from the mainland is the island of Murter that is connected to the mainland by a movable bridge near Tisno. Murter’s history dates back to ancient times, as evidenced by the remains of the Roman settlement Colentum on Gradina between the bays of Slanica and Hramina. Slanica Bay hides one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic, while a modern marina has been built in the bay of Hramina, where the oldest settlement on the island once used to be. More recent settlements on the island are Jezera, Tisno and Betina. The latter is a small village that became well-known for its shipbuilders, and even today, there are numerous shipbuilding workshops in Betina. The village Tisno has expanded from the island to the mainland, creating thereby long promenades that are popular at any time of the year. Just across the island is the small fishing village Jezera, which is named after the large accumulations of rainwater that resemble lakes. Accommodation is available on the island in many apartments, villas with pools and holiday homes. The island of Murter hides many coves and beaches, where you will find perfect peace and enjoy long summer days.
