Ražanac, Zadar Riviera

Not far from Zadar and on the shores of the Velebit Channel lies Ražanac. The village is dominated by the parish church and fortress Kaštelina that was built in 1507 as protection against Ottoman attacks. Nowadays, it is Ražanac’s beautiful beaches and clear sea that make it known as a favorite tourist destination. The rocky and pebble beaches are lined one after another, such as beaches Smoljenica, Vlaški kraj, Pisak, Pježavac, Vranjak and Puntica. The pebble beach Punta is particularly attractive due to sand in the water. An exceptionally charming feature of the port of Ražanac are the two small islets: Ražanac Mali and Ražanac Veli (Školji), where the locals took refuge during Ottoman attacks. Today, the islets are habitats of seagulls. If you are lucky, you will find yourself in Ražanac at a time when the locals are performing the Ražanac circle dance, which, due to its uniqueness, has been declared a world and national cultural heritage. Don't miss to taste the local wines for which Ražanac is famous. Those looking for an active holiday can enjoy many cycling, hiking and mountain trails in the nearby national parks Paklenica, Northern Velebit and Plitvice Lakes. Give yourself an adrenaline kick while free climbing in the Paklenica canyon, bungee jumping from the highest available spot in Croatia, the old Maslenica bridge, or rafting down the wild rapids of the Zrmanja river. Find affordable and comfortable accommodation in modern apartments, holiday homes and villas by the sea and enjoy the beauties of Ražanac.
