Marina, Split riviera

Marina, a small, but charming village that is located at the same distance from Split on one side and Šibenik on the other, proudly guards an imposing 15th century stone fortress that was once a summer house of a Trogir noble family. Near Marina is the Cave of St. Philip and St. James with an interesting chapel. Once a place of fishermen and farmers, today it is a tourist paradise that attracts tourists from all over the world. The diligent hands of the locals have been cultivating numerous olive groves for centuries, so along with the rich table of traditional Dalmatian fish cuisine one should not miss to taste the much-appreciatesd olive oil of this region.

A special attraction near Marina is the unique underwater museum Via Crucis in the quiet bay Jelinak that displays the “Stations of the Cross”. The permanent exhibition of the museum consists of 14 stations with a total of 52 life-size statues and a large 8-meter tall statue of Jesus Christ. The museum is located at a shallow depth of only 4 to 5 meters, while the large 8-meter statue is at a depth of 10 m. This underwater adventure is therefore suitable to be enjoyed by both children and adults, scuba divers and ordinary swimmers.
