Exploring the Blue and Green Caves, Vis Island, Komiža

Exploring the Blue and Green Caves, Vis Island, Komiža - Excursions from Hvar town

This unique day at sea explores the majestic Green and Blue caves. Cruise the Adriatic between Hvar and the islets of Ravnik and Biševo. Cool off in the emerald waters at the Green Cave and visit its inner core. We'll take a swimming break at the picturesque hidden inlet called Stiniva where you can enjoy all sorts of water sports- a banana ride, water tube or just relax and sun bathe. After Stiniva, the excursion moves to the world-renowned Blue Cave, whose ethereal silvery-blue colour is created as the sun penetrates into the cave through a hole under the surface. Widely regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful natural phenomena, this cave is a must-see. Our trip ends in the picturesque fishing village of Komiža, where we can organise an optional lunch at Jastožera (Lobster house) where you can pick your own lobster!. You can have it cooked anyway you wish, or if shellfish isn't your dish, choose a gorgeous fresh Adriatic tuna steak. After lunch, we'll explore the Vis archipelago and hidden bays or if you prefer, relax in the sun or take a final swim in the sea.

Tour description:
Ravnik Island and the Green Cave; into the cave & swimming
The cave is famous for the small cracks in its ceiling, allowing beams of light to come through, leaving a trace in the sea throughout the cave. The cave is quite spacious, and its depth varies from three to five metres.
Stiniva Cave; a hidden inlet for swimming & sun bathing
Our next stop is the Stiniva Cove. Located on the south side of the island, it is characterized by a very narrow entrance, after which the cove widens to a beautiful, thirty-meter wide pebble beach, flanked by perpendicular rocks 35 metres high. No road leads to the cove, so it has preserved its natural beauty and is only accessible from the sea!
Biševo; the Blue Cave
The best/optimal time to visit Blue Cave to experience its magical blue light is between 12pm - 2 pm. Because the cave is so small, we will disembark and use a smaller craft to actually visit the interior. Because the Blue Cave is such a magnet for visitors, access is managed by local port authorities and we may have to wait for 10-20 minutes before being allowed in.
Komiža; a picturesque fishermans village and Museum
After Blue Cave we cruise to Komiža, a picturesque village known for its rich cultural, historical and fishing traditions. The local fishing boat, the gajeta falkuša, occupies a special place in the hearts of the local population. There is a falkuša is on display in the Komiža Fishing Museum which we will visit. It's located in the so-called Commune, a Renaissance tower dating back to the 16th century. Komiža is also known for its fine restaurants, where we will serve a lunch..
OPTIONAL: Jastožera restaurant - lobster lunch.
Žarko Peša is the restaurant's owner and he will be there ready to greet us. And of course, the best table in the house has been reserved especially for you! This is a must visit restaurant. A place where you pick your lobster from the sea for lunch. Or if you prefer fresh fish, ask Zarko for the catch of the day, grilled, fried or any way you like it!
