Inspiration for your vacation
Why visit Baška?

Where the green slopes of the Treskavac hill turn into gentle lowlands and pebble beaches you will find Baška and its irresistible natural beauty that has been recognized by visitors for a long time. Its narrow streets and lovely balconies contribute to its reputation as one of the most romantic places in the Adriatic Sea, where you can find high standard accommodation in family houses and modern apartments. In addition to its typical Mediterranean architecture, Baška is also interesting for its numerous sights. The most important and famous one is certainly the Baška tablet from 1100, which was written in the early Croatian Glagolitic alphabet and discovered in the Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor.

Baška is one of the most attractive places on island Krk because of its large pebble beach that is located in a well-protected bay and the magnificent view over the neighbouring islands. Beach Vela features 1800 meters of perfect pebbles and clean water, making it a landmark of Baška. Beach Vela was awarded with the European Blue Flag for its sea quality, the safe and preserved landscape and the overall high standards there. The surroundings of Baška attract visitors with about thirty more beaches, of which the most beautiful ones are Vela Luka and Mala Luka, Konjska, Vrženica, Jablanovo and Storišće.

Fans of active holidays can enjoy well-maintained hiking and biking trails and discover more about the history and tradition of this area along them. Especially interesting is the Moon Trail, which leads through a striking landscape to the top of hill Hlam. The Baška Glagolitic trail will introduce you to the signs of early Croatian alphabet, while the mountain and bicycle trails will take you to Baška’s famous flower-shaped dry stone walls called mrgari that were used for sorting out the sheep.

Don't miss the Guitar Festival in Baška, which is held regularly in August and attended by many musicians, who transform summer evenings with the sounds of their guitars into a beautiful experience. As part of the event, there are also workshops, during which you can try your hand at making music. Baška’s rich gastronomic table features the must-try dish Šurlice, but also the homemade pasta the locals call Valcići, and both are served with various sauces of delicious seafood, lamb or asparagus. Along with fine food, the summer breeze and the sound of the guitar, a glass of the cold island wine Vrbnička Žlahtina, which is created for refreshment and relaxing summer pleasures, goes best.
