Pakoštane, Biograd Riviera

The harmonious Dalmatian settlement of Pakoštane is located in an almost ideal location between the lake and the sea, in the immediate vicinity of the cultural and historical centers of Zadar and Šibenik, and close to the most beautiful national parks in Croatia. Along the coast, which is adorned by the lovely pebble and sandy beaches Pilatuša, Bužakovina and Janice, you can find high-standard accommodation in one of the many holiday homes and villas. The charming old part of the village, which features beautiful churches that were built from the 17th to the beginning of the 20th century, a well-kept local beach with cafes and bars, beach volleyball courts, a beautiful promenade by the sea and much more that make Pakoštane an attractive vacation destination. Despite its small size, Pakoštane has two tourist complexes. The tourist complex Club Med is a Polynesian-type settlement with thatched houses built in an old pine forest near a sandy bay. The apartment complex and auto-camp Kozarica offers the possibility of camping right on the coast next to pebble beaches and the rocky shore in the shade of a pine forest. During the summer months, Pakoštane hosts many festivities that last until the early morning hours – an a capella singing festival, ethno-gastronomic events and summer games.

In front of Pakoštane there are three small islands: Sveta Juština, Školj and Babuljaš, of which the latter hides a particular treasure in the waters in front of island. Namely, there is a sunken galley from ancient times that will delight all lovers of the underwater world. The hinterland of Pakoštane is adorned by the Vrana Lake Nature Park and its ornithological reserve, where you will find more than 100 different species of birds during the nesting season. Those who seek a more active vacation will love the offer of activities. Namely, well-kept bike paths around the Vrana Lake are a paradise for cycling enthusiasts. When visiting the old town Vrana, do not miss to see the medieval fortress Gradina that used to be the ecclesiastical and secular center of the region, as well as the exceptional complex Maškovića Han, a former residence of a commander of the Ottoman army, which today is the largest monument of Ottoman architecture in Croatia. All those interested in discovering the natural beauties of Croatia, will surely enjoy a visit to the nearby national parks NP Krka, NP Paklenica and NP Kornati.
