Turanj, Biograd Riviera

The small tourist resort Turanj is close enough, but also far enough from the hustle and bustle of the large tourist center of Zadar. It stretches along a 4km long coastline along the Pašman Channel. The area is particularly charming because of the stunning archipelago that has as many as 16 islets. The most popular is without doubt islet Galešnjak, which is, due to its heart shape, also called the island of love. Many couples from all over the world haven chosen this picturesque island to swear eternal love to their loved ones. The entire settlement Turanj (lat. Toretta), whose name derives from the towers that were built against Ottoman attacks, was surrounded by a wall and three towers until the mid- 20th century. The island of Babac, opposite of Turanj, is the only inhabited island in the archipelago of the Pašman Channel and belongs to the settlement. The island features the Church of St. Andrew from the 13th or 14th century. The kind local hosts offer modern and quality accommodation in family houses, villas with swimming pools and numerous apartments. If you decide to spend your vacation in Turanj, we definitely recommend a visit to the nearby national parks Krka, Kornati, Plitvice and Paklenica, and nature parks Vrana Lake and Telašćica.
