Brbišćica bay

Brbišćica bay, Dugi otok island

The picturesque bay Brbišćica (Brbinjšćica) is located in the southwest of Dugi Otok. The azure blue color of the sea and the white beach with the intoxicating scents of aromatic Mediterranean herbs are a real paradise that will relax all your senses. The bay can be reached by boat and car. In the immediate vicinity of the bay are two natural must-see attractions: Zmajevo Oko (Dragon's Eye) and the sea cave Golubinka. Zmajevo Oko is a natural phenomenon that was formed by the wear of the limestone rock in which it is located. Experienced swimmers and divers with enough courage can dare and dive through the underwater corridor that separates Zmajevo Oko from the sea. The cave Golubinka is a wonderful natural attraction with a large opening in the ceiling through which sunlight reaches the cave. The seductive play of sea, stone and sunlight creates an impressive spectrum of colors in the cave that leaves you breathless. At the end of the cave is a small beach which is a perfect spot for taking photos. The safest way to visit the cave is in kayaks within organized groups and when weather conditions are favorable, i.e. without wind and waves. More daring explorers can jump off a high cliff and swim into the cave through a narrow passage. It is not recommended to visit the Golubinka cave if the wind is blowing and the sea is wavy. During stable weather in summer months, the mistral winds blows in the Adriatic almost every afternoon, which can create high waves, so if you plan to visit the Golubinka cave, you should do it in the morning when the weather is stable.

The bay of Brbišćica is a location of special geomorphological significance due to the discovery of traces of prehistoric history in the immediate vicinity of the bay. Namely, a dinosaur fossil was found on the steep slopes of Brbišćica, so the whole area enjoys special protection.
