Sali, Dugi otok island, Zadar archipelago

Sali, the largest settlement on the island, is located on the northeastern coast of Dugi otok. In the immediate vicinity of the Telašćica Nature Park and the Kornati National Park, Sali is an ideal starting point for discovering the fairytale nature of Dugi Otok. Numerous sacral monuments are evidence of the rich cultural heritage of this place: the parish Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a magnificent wooden altar from the 17th century, the small churches of St. Roch and St. Nicholas, the Church of St. John in the nearby field Stivanjsko polje from the 5th century, the early Christian Church of St. Victor on the hill Citorij and the prehistoric hillfort Košenjak. The locals of Sali are famous fishermen and olive growers, so it is a great place if you want to enjoy fresh fish on your plate. The long tradition of olive growing in this area is testified by the olive grove Saljsko polje (field of Sali), which contains olive trees up to 700 years old. The locals call the olive grove an "olive forest". The olive grove represents a unique botanical and ecological value. It is assumed that ancient Greeks, who had estates here, started cultivating olives. Don't miss the three-day festival "Saljske užance" that is held in Sali every year, during which you can hear how the famous Tovareća mužika (donkey music) sounds. Numerous apartments and holiday homes by the sea offer comfortable and quality accommodation for couples looking for romance, as well as for families with children. Discover the idyllic landscapes of the Telašćica Nature Park, the magnetic solitude and peace of the Kornati, peek into the caves of Dugi Otok and experience the magical sunset next to the lighthouse Veli Rat. Dugi Otok in its magnificent natural beauty is waiting for you.
