Veli Rat, Dugi otok island

Veli Rat is located in the northern part of Dugi Otok in the bay of Čuna. The remains of buildings from Roman times bear witness to an ancient settlement in this area. The village features the beautiful Church of St. Anthony and a modern marina, while along the coast there are houses and apartments providing comfortable and quality accommodation. The main attraction of Veli Rat is the lighthouse "Lanterna Punta Bjanka". The idyllic beauty of the lighthouse and the white beaches that surround it are widely known. In the summer it is teeming with curious tourists and romantic couples who are waiting for a spectacular sunset in this very place. Locals say the sunset from this place is the most beautiful in the world. In the courtyard of the lighthouse is the chapel of St. Nicholas in which weddings are organized. The nearby sandy beach Sakarun is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Adriatic Sea. Due to its exceptional beauty, this part of Dugi Otok has been declared a significant Croatian landscape. The best way of exploring the bay Brbišćica and discovering the secret of Zmajevo Oko (Dragon's Eye) and the sea cave Golubinka is by boat.
