Preko, island Ugljan

Preko is the central village on the island of Ugljan and is situated just opposite the city of Zadar. Walking through Preko’s old center, visitors can enjoy typical Dalmatian architecture, but also immerge into authentic Mediterranean atmosphere by walking along the quay. The idyllic islet of Galovac, which lies just in front of Preko, is worth visiting for its valuable Franciscan monastery from the 15th century. For those who like exploring history and culture, there is the Romanesque Church of St. John the Baptist from the 11th century located just nearby the ferryboat landing. In the hills above Preko (approx. 265 m.a.s.l.), there is the fortress of St. Michael which was built by the Eastern Roman Empire in the 6th century and rebuilt by the Republic of Venice in the 13th century. The view from the fortress spreads over the Zadar archipelago and its 200 islands. Guests are offered accommodation in hotels, camps, private holiday houses and apartments. Along the shores of Preko you will find beautiful beaches: Bilišće, Parapet, Magazin, Jaz, Kašun, Frnaža and many others. Find your ideal accommodation and discover the beauties of the island of Ugljan.
