Krka National Park

Krka National Park, Šibenik region

Just a few dozen kilometres from the boiling summer in Šibenik is hidden an oasis of freshness, the Krka Waterfalls National Park. The river Krka, which is anyway known as a place of exceptional beauty, with its large number of foaming waterfalls which loudly plummet into the wide turquoise lake, will take your breath away. The surrounding woods will offer you shelter from the summer heat, and the soft breeze which blows gently between the tree trunks will give you the feeling that you are really on holiday. In the park you can spend the whole day, swimming and enjoying the easy rhythm of nature, but don't forget to visit the most beautiful waterfalls of Skradinski buk and Roški slap. Here you can visit the traditional stone houses which present the old trades such as milling, weaving with looms, pottery and more, and you will be entertained by people dressed in the traditional clothes of this region. In the lakelike part of the river between Skradinski buk and Roški slap is found the islet of Visovac with its dreamy Franciscan monastery. The park extends along the whole of the river Krka from the historical town of Knin to the small town of Skradin where after the magnificent waterfalls, the river gradually spills out into the Prokljansko lake, the last stop before a deep canyon from where it mixes with sea water and finally reaches the Šibenik bay and is lost in the endless sea.
