Island Žirje, Šibenik archipelago

Žirje is the largest and most remote island of the Šibenik archipelago. This island, which is connected by ferry with Šibenik, is adorned with pristine nature, crystal clear sea and beautiful, somewhat wild beaches in the famous bays of Velika and Mala Stupica, and Koromačna. If you walk around the island, you will find yourself among centuries-old olive groves and vineyards, the scents of figs, carob and rosemary. The friendly hosts welcome their guests into holiday homes and apartments that provide affordable and comfortable accommodation. Šibenik, Primošten and Vodice on the mainland are easy reachable from Žirje due to the island’s proximity and good connections. Do not miss to taste Žirje’s gastronomic offer that includes Dalmatian dishes of freshly caught fish, exquisite homemade olive oil and wine. The Fishermen's Festival is traditionally held every year in Žirje during which the unique event "Bodulska pripetavanja" (Islanders’s bickering) takes place. It is an amusing competition between neighboring islands in various disciplines: boccia, football, water polo, cards, tug of war. The competition ends with locals and their guests enjoying local specialties and singing and dancing until the morning hours. Do not miss to experience authentic Dalmatia right here on Žirje.
