The island of Iž, Zadar archipelago

The island of Iž is located in the Zadar archipelago between two other islands, Dugi Otok and Ugljan. There are two settlements on the island: Veli Iž and Mali Iž. The island is covered with typical Mediterranean plants and cultivated with thousands of olive trees. Veli Iž is a village in the island’s western part, where a small hotel, private holiday houses and apartments offer accommodation to tourists. With its marina, Veli Iž is very popular among boaters. A unique phenomenon of Veli Iž is pottery making, of which the products were once exported to a large part of the Adriatic coast. In the summer time, there is the Festival of Iž, a folklore manifestation called Iška Fešta, during which some traditional costumes and crafts can be seen.
