Gornji Karin, Zadar Region

The picturesque settlement Karin is located on the shores of the smallest sea in the world, the Karin Sea. The small river Karišnica divides Karin into Gornji and Doni Karin (Upper and Lower Karin). It is a place of rich history that is surrounded by magical nature. If you walk along the slopes above the Karin Sea, you will come across the remains of the Liburnian-Roman town of Corinium, where an amphitheater and a temple dedicated to the goddess Latra were built. The Monastery of the Immaculate Holy Mary houses a stone cross of Croatian interlace and a valuable library. If you want to walk through the history of this area, visit the remains of medieval towers and fortifications. From Obrovac only 5 kilometers upstream on the river Zrmanja are the towers Stari Obrovac and Klisina, the fortress Zelengradina in Zelengrad, the hillfort Cvijina Gradina in Kruševo or visit the fortress Kurjaković in Obrovac. In addition to historical sights, Karin offers beautiful beaches, clear sea and the benefits of pure nature. Gornji Karin has a beautiful beach, while Donji Karin is located where the rivers Karišnica and Bijela debouche into the sea. At the mouths of the river, where salt and fresh water mix, you will find medicinal mud which is increasingly used in therapeutic treatments and health tourism. Fans of active holidays can enjoy hiking and biking trails, rafting on the Zrmanja river and free climbing in Paklenica. Make yourself comfortable in one of Karin's apartments or holiday homes and enjoy a well-deserved vacation!
