Sukošan, Zadar Riviera

In the spacious bay of Zlatna Luka lies the small town Sukošan. Numerous remains from antiquity, such as the ruins of a rustic villa on Barbir, the Illyrian fortress on Vrčevo and the old Roman aqueduct (Vilinski zid) bear testimony to life in this area. Particularly charming are the remains of the former summer house of the Zadar Archdiocese, which was built on an artificially created island in the middle of the bay in the 15th century. If you look towards the remains of the summer house in the evening, you will be enchanted by the play of shadows with the colors of the setting sun that are reflected on the calm surface of the sea. This tourist resort offers quality accommodation in luxury villas with swimming pools, modern apartments and holiday homes. Sukošan is an ideal destination for discovering and experiencing the beauties of the Croatian coast, the playful appearance of the archipelago of Zadar and Kornati, and the magnificent nature in the surrounding national parks.

Marina Dalmacija, which is located in Sukošan, is not only the largest marina in the Adriatic, but also one of the most modern ones in this area. The pebble beaches of Sukošan are lined up one after the other along the coast: Zlatna Luka beach, Dječji raj beach and Makarska beach. The city of Zadar, Biograd na Moru and the royal city of Nin are just some places near Sukošan, where you can visit and enjoy cultural and historical sites and museums. Sukošan offers also plenty of options for those looking for some adrenaline adventures, such as sailing, diving, fishing, cycling and hiking along the coast. Nature fans will find their place for recreation and relaxation at the magnificent river Krka in the Krka National Park, the idyllic landscape of the Plitvice Lakes or the wild beauty of the Paklenica National Park. Sea excursions to Dugi otok and the beautiful Telašćica Nature Park, as well as a cruise through the Kornati National Park are other highlights of the area one should not miss. Visitors to Sukošan will satisfy their appetite for fun and entertainment during the numerous events this small tourist town hosts every summer: fishermen festivals, donkey races, summer carnival, a capella singing concerts and the gastronomic event "Brudetijada", which is an interesting competition during which competing teams prepare the "brudet", a traditional Dalmatian fish dish, according to their secret recipes. The hosts and their guests have then the opportunity to taste Dalmatian delicacies and premium wines, while socializing, listening to Dalmatian songs and having fun until late at night.
