Island Prvić (Krk)

Island Prvić, Island Krk

Island Prvić, located south of Baška, is today the largest uninhabited island in the Adriatic. Nature has endowed Prvić not only with various plants, but also with a rich fauna; for example, many bird species have found their home on the island turning the island into a protected botanical and ornithological reserve. On the island are the nesting grounds for the rare, almost extinct griffon vulture and the golden eagle. With its beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea, Prvić has become a popular excursion destination of many tourists, who spend their summers on the nearby island of Krk. The locals of Baška from island Krk use the pastures of Prvić for their sheep and bee keeping. The highly valued island-made honey from the sage flower is known for its medicinal effects and can be bought from beekeepers in Baška.
