Punat, Island Krk

On the island’s west coast and only 8 km away from the town of Krk is Punat. Located in a deep and protected bay, Punat is a true nautical gem in the Kvarner bay and a widely known tourist resort that offers a variety of comfortable accommodation in family houses, apartments and villas. Its picturesque village centre is surrounded by lush pine forests and centuries-old olive groves, while the 3 kilometres long coast features bays, pebble and rocky beaches, hidden beaches and cliffs with crystal clear sea. A must-see attraction is the nearby island Košljun, to which a "barkajoli" in a traditional wooden rowing boat can take you. There is a Franciscan monastery from 1447 on the island, which houses a valuable ethnographic collection. Many bicycle and hiking trails, paths and promenades will satisfy all those who want to spend their vacation more active. Be sure to peek into the taverns and restaurants and treat yourself to fresh fish, shrimps, lamb and sheep cheese. Taste excellent local olive oils, home-made pasta called Šurlice and refresh yourself with the famous wine Vrbnička žlahtina from Krk. Visit Punat on the island of Krk, relax in good company and spoil yourself with a holiday to remember.
