Nerezine, island Lošinj

The charming village Nerezine, located on the slopes of the hill Osorčica, is a place of fishermen, farmers and a rich maritime tradition as testified by the small shipyard that is still operating today and where the skilled hands of craftsmen make wooden ships. Unlike most coastal settlements, the streets of Nerezine are wide and open, and lined by houses with spacious yards and fragrant flower gardens, palm trees, oleanders and many exotic plants that local sailors brought back from their distant voyages in the past. In this romantic environment, you can find many apartments and villas that offer affordable and comfortable accommodation for your dream vacation. Lovers of hiking and trekking can enjoy a climb up the hill Osorčica that will reward the efforts with a beautiful panoramic view of the entire Lošinj archipelago, Istria, the Velebit mountain range and the nearby islands of Rab, Pag and Silba. At the top of the hill is the Church of St. Nicholas, but worth visiting are also the two famous caves Vela Jama and the Cave of St. Gaudentius. The latter, according to legend, blessed the island and expelled all venomous snakes from there, which is why there are no venomous snakes on Lošinj. Refreshments can be found in the mountain lodge.

If you enjoy adrenaline sports like free climbing, Osorčica offers some interesting climbing routes. Beginners can try this sport under the guidance of a climbing instructor, while the required equipment can be rented at the mountain lodge. Do not miss swimming in the bay Galboka that hides one of the most beautiful beaches on Lošinj. Namely, this pebble beach with crystal clear sea and the pleasant shade provided by the dense pine forest is a true oasis in the summer and waiting for you to be discovered.
